Different formats for different applications

Start with the material and purpose of the joint or marking. Cloth-backed gaffa tape suits general binding and securing, while PVC builders tape provides an adhesive option for compatible sheets and coverings. Scrim tape reinforces plasterboard joints, and petro tape wraps metal parts for corrosion protection. Each format has its own application requirements.

Clear width, colour and roll-length choices

Product pages show the available combinations rather than assuming every colour comes in every width. Check roll length as well as width when comparing coverage. Wide tape covers a broader strip in one pass, while narrower tape may be easier to position around a small joint or defined edge.

Supply quantities shown before ordering

Check whether the listing supplies a single roll or a pack. Electrical insulation tape and PTFE tape are available in clearly labelled packs of ten, while many other products are supplied individually. Select the required size and colour before ordering, and use the specification table to confirm what the selected option includes.

General Sealing, Masking and Packaging Tapes

ProSolve gaffa tape has a polyethylene-coated cloth backing and pressure-sensitive adhesive. Its flexible, water-resistant construction supports binding, sealing and protecting tasks. PVC builders tape offers another option for joining compatible polythene sheets and membranes, with black and orange products available in the dimensions shown on their pages.

For masking, match the tape to the surface and removal requirements. General-purpose masking tape and blue 14-day masking tape have different intended uses; the general-purpose product is not specified for walls. Read the individual description before choosing. Aluminium foil tape provides a separate adhesive format for applications such as suitable insulation and ducting work.

Buff and clear packing tapes suit everyday carton sealing. Cross-weave tape uses two-way glass-fibre reinforcement for heavier packaging applications. Compare the parcel, backing and adhesive requirements rather than selecting solely by colour. Specialist Jointing, Protection and Grip

Double-sided tape bonds compatible materials on both faces. Butyl mastic tape is intended for compatible construction membrane joints, whereas petro tape provides a flexible petrolatum-based wrap for corrosion protection. PTFE thread-seal tape serves threaded water-pipe joints and is specified for water pipes only. Follow the requirements of the fitting or membrane system.

Plasterboard scrim tape and render mesh reinforce their respective finishing applications. For suitable steps and walkways, anti-slip tape adds a textured grip surface. Floor-marking and hazard tapes provide visual boundaries. Check the substrate, prepare it appropriately and inspect installed tape during routine maintenance, replacing worn or lifting sections when necessary.

Boundary and Underground Service Marking

Fluorescent boundary tape and warning bunting help identify temporary work areas. Underground tapes carry printed service messages for buried cable, pipe and drainage routes.
