Pothole Repair Products
The joint between old and new asphalt is the weak point in a patch. If water gets in, traffic and freeze-thaw movement can start breaking the edge away. Cold joint sealer coats the vertical face before the repair material goes in, while overbanding tape seals the top of the joint after compaction.Â
Wax jute sheets and insulated tarpaulins keep tarmacadam hot during transport, while the tar detector, release agent and pouring can cover the preparation and handling work around the repair.

Cold Joint Sealer and Overbanding Tape
The two sealing products work at different stages of the repair. The ProSolve Bitumen Cold Joint Sealer is a ready to use 750ml aerosol applied to the clean vertical edges before hot or cold asphalt is laid. It creates a tack coat between the existing surface and the new material.Â
Overbanding tape goes on after the repair has been compacted. The HAPAS-approved thermoplastic tape measures 35mm wide by 5m long and forms a waterproof seal across the surface joint. It is applied with the single-head propane torch which comes with an adjustable regulator and three-metre hose.

How Do I Keep Hot Tarmacadam Warm During Transport?
Cover the load with a wax jute sheet or insulated tarpaulin. The wax jute sheet suits shorter journeys, while the padded waterproof tarpaulin retains more heat during longer trips and poor weather.
