Hi Vis Clothing

Hi vis work clothes should be selected around the task, working conditions and amount of coverage required. Polo shirts and vests provide a light upper layer for warmer or indoor work, while combat trousers and coveralls add lower-body or one-piece coverage. Fleeces, softshells, padded jackets and waterproof outerwear cover colder conditions.

A standard garment provides visibility but does not automatically provide protection against rain, electric arc, flame or cuts. Check the visibility class, colour and any specialist standards against the workplace risk assessment before ordering.

Polo Shirts, Trousers and Overalls

Hi vis polo shirts provide a lighter option for active work. Short and long sleeved styles are available in standard and women’s fits with moisture wicking polyester and cotton blend options. The range also includes cut resistant and ARC-rated polos for work involving additional hazards.

Hi vis trousers include combat styles with storage and kneepad pockets, women’s stretch trousers for frequent bending and kneeling and waterproof overtrousers that pull on over existing workwear. Yellow and orange options can be paired with a suitable upper layer to create a practical workwear system.

Hi vis overalls combine upper and lower body coverage in one garment. Combat coveralls suit durable everyday site work while waterproof versions add storm flaps, ventilation and protective hoods for exposed conditions.

Jackets, Waterproofs and Specialist Hi Vis Clothing

Hi vis jackets and coats range from softshells, fleeces and body warmers to padded bombers, storm coats and waterproof shell jackets. Lighter styles suit active work or mild conditions while padded and longer coats provide more warmth and coverage.

Hi vis waterproofs include coats, salopettes, overtrousers and coveralls for wet outdoor work. Where the risk assessment identifies electrical arc, heat, flame or anti static hazards, choose correctly rated hi vis ARC flash clothing. Standard hi vis clothing should not be treated as specialist protective workwear unless the required standards are stated on the garment.

FAQs

What hi vis workwear do I need?

Choose the garment type, colour and visibility class required by the workplace risk assessment.

Should I choose yellow or orange hi vis clothing?

The required colour depends on the workplace and site rules. For rail work, choose an orange garment that specifically carries RIS-3279-TOM certification.

Are all hi vis work clothes waterproof?

No. Polo shirts, fleeces, softshells and combat trousers do not all provide the same rain protection.

Can hi vis clothing be layered?

Yes. Lightweight shirts, fleeces and body warmers can be worn under suitable outerwear.

When is ARC or flame-resistant hi vis workwear required?

ARC and flame resistant clothing is required when the workplace risk assessment identifies electrical arc, heat, flame or anti-static hazards.
