Pak Tar Detector Spray 500ml

Pak Tar Detector Spray is a quick, reliable way to identify the presence of coal tar and PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon) contamination in recycled road and Tarmac-adam/asphalt materials. Designed for use in surfacing, groundworks, and road maintenance, it helps determine whether excavated asphalt contains hazardous tar compounds before reuse or disposal.

How it works
Shake the can well and spray a thin, even layer onto the clean, dry surface of the material. After roughly 15 minutes, the white coating changes to a yellow or brown tint if PAHs are present at levels of around 100 ppm or higher. Under a UV lamp, contaminated areas will show a yellow-green fluorescence for easier identification. The test provides a rapid on-site indication of contamination and is ideal for assessing asphalt, bitumen, and reclaimed road materials.

Key features
• Detects the presence of tar and PAHs in asphalt and road materials above 100 ppm
• Fast visual results in around 15 minutes
• Aerosol spray for easy on-site use – no lab equipment required
• Suitable for bituminous materials, asphalt, and reclaimed road planings
• Volume: 500 ml per aerosol can
• Packaging: box of 12 units
• Binding: thermoplastic acrylic
• Pigments: mineral and organic, free from heavy metals such as lead and cadmium
• Solvents: formulated to dissolve PAHs effectively
• Drying time: approximately 15 minutes
• Operating temperature range: –10°C to +50°C
• Recommended storage: between 15°C and 25°C, away from humidity and direct sunlight

Safety and handling
Do not expose cans to temperatures above 50°C. Keep away from heat sources, flames, and sparks. Do not smoke while using the product. Avoid piercing or burning the aerosol, even when empty.

Usage instructions

  1. Hold the can upside down and shake well before application.

  2. Spray a thin, even layer over the surface to be tested.

  3. Allow it to dry for about 15 minutes.

  4. If tar or PAHs are present, the white layer will turn yellow or brown.

  5. For additional confirmation, use a UV lamp to highlight any yellow-green fluorescence.

Pak Tar Detector Spray is an essential tool for surfacing contractors, highway engineers, and environmental specialists who need to assess road materials quickly and accurately for tar contamination on site.
